We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring leader to the role of Head of School at Upton St Leonards C of E Primary School.

 

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader to take the next step in their career and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a thriving and successful school. Working closely with the Executive Headteacher, you will lead the day-to-day life of the school, ensuring the highest standards of education, care and opportunity for all pupils.

 

This role, without directed teaching commitment, offers the chance to have a real and lasting impact on children’s lives, while also benefiting from the support, collaboration and professional growth opportunities that come from working within a strong and ambitious federation.

 

As Head of School, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring high-quality provision for all pupils
  • Drive excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum design
  • Use assessment and data effectively to secure strong pupil outcomes
  • Develop, support and challenge staff, creating a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement
  • Be a visible, approachable and inspirational presence—the ‘heart and soul’ of the school
  • Build strong relationships with children, staff, parents, governors and the wider community
  • Work closely with the Executive Headteacher and Federation colleagues to contribute to wider Federation development
  • Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion

Full Time

 

From September 2026, we require classroom teachers with enthusiasm and flexibility to join our staff team. One of the positions is for an Upper Key Stage 2 teacher. The posts are full-time positions.

 

Applicants should have an excellent understanding of the primary curriculum. They should have a proven record of good/outstanding teaching, together with a commitment to high standards, both across the curriculum and in terms of their relationships with children. The ability to lead RE would be desirable.

 

As our school is a Church of England (controlled) School, we place great emphasis on our Christian vision and the core values which underpin this. We would expect applicants to be supportive of these.

 

In 2024, the school was inspected by Ofsted and was graded ‘Outstanding’; our latest Church School Inspection (2020) graded us as Good.
