Welcome to Upton St Leonards Primary School
A very warm welcome to Upton St Leonards Church of England Primary School.
We are a thriving, two-form entry village school set in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold countryside, within the Stroud District, and just a few miles from the historic city of Gloucester. As part of the Heartwood Federation, we share a deep commitment to placing children at the heart of all we do, nurturing love, respect and life-long learning — while celebrating the unique identity and vision of each of our schools.
At Upton St Leonards, our vision is ‘Building foundations for a love of life, a love of learning and a love of one another.’ The pattern of three within our vision reflects the Holy Trinity and our deep-rooted Christian ethos. Everything we do is guided by our core values of love, respect, perseverance, and truthfulness, which shape how we learn, live and grow together as a community.
‘Building foundations’ means ensuring every child has the strongest possible start — prepared for the next stage of their education and life beyond, supported by perseverance and resilience. ‘A love of life’ speaks to our belief that every child should flourish and live life to the full in a community that respects and celebrates each individual. ‘A love of learning’ is our core purpose — rooted in the original mission of church schools to bring learning to all, underpinned by care and nurture. And ‘a love of one another’ reminds us that we are called to live out God’s love authentically every day, inspiring us to love and care for all, truthfully and wholeheartedly.
Relationships are at the heart of our school — we know that when children feel loved, respected and supported, they can truly thrive. Our vision and values guide our curriculum, our decisions and our daily life together, so every child feels known, valued and ready to make a positive difference.
Whether you are part of our school family already, considering joining us, or simply exploring, I warmly invite you to discover what makes Upton St Leonards C of E Primary School such a special place for children to build strong foundations for life and learning.
We look forward to welcoming you.
