Long Term Planning Documents
At Upton St Leonards, we use the Government supported resources provided by Oak Academy ( ) to support our music teaching. We also use some elements of a commercial resource (Charanga - link here https://charanga.com/site/musical-school/) to ensure all children receive whole class instrument teaching.
Our teachers use these schemes of work as the basis of our planning and then amend as necessary to meet the needs of their class. We are therefore unable to share any of these planning documents on our website for parents/carers to look at as we do not have the rights to re-distribute. If you are interested in finding out more about our Music curriculum beyond what we have included on this page, please speak to our Music leader - Miss Keightley.
Peripatetic Lessons
As well as a broad music curriculum, pupils at USL have the option to take part in peripatetic music lessons through one of our music teachers. We currently offer the following lessons: keyboard, piano, guitar, ukele and violin.
We use Rock Steady (https://www.rocksteadymusicschool.com/) where children become part of a school band and perform at Rock Concerts in the School Hall 3 times a year.
We also use Smash Hit (SMASH HIT | Songwriting School) where children have the opportunity to write their own songs as well as perform to an audience.
All of these music lessons do come with a small weekly cost. We are able to financially support children who receive Pupil Premium funding to ensure they are given the opportunity to take part.
For more information about peripatetic music lessons or to register your child, please speak to the school office.
